SERVICES
Our passion and expertise lie in creating efficient and resilient designs. We leverage established technologies, often overlooked, to guarantee top-notch design quality.
WHY US?
UNBIASED
Whilst we have a broad network of contacts within the industry, we don’t believe in quid pro quo affiliations, meaning we can provide unbiased advice to ensure you are provided with the optimum solution every time.
HOLISTIC
We are experts in low carbon production and delivery, supplemented by knowledge of renewable generation and energy storage technologies. This allows us to produce all-encompassing solutions, cutting carbon emissions and running costs across entire buildings.
EXPERIENCED
With over 80 years of combined design experience and 400MW of installed heat pump capacity, you can trust we've got a solution, no matter the context. We strive to deliver quality system designs that work, last and suit your needs.
VERSATILE
We do not limit ourselves in the projects that we take on, having designed systems for hospitals, schools, domestic, historical sites, leisure centres, agriculture and much more. Not only do we design, but we also advise and guide, proving our expert knowledge wherever needed.
OUR CAPABILITIES
Our design framework work is based on The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) stages.
We offer support and design packages through all stages and heating /cooling options, regardless of which stage the design is in.
ADDITIONAL SERVICES
-
Heat Decarbonisation Plans are a great starting point to build up a basic roadmap for reducing the direct emissions. Using gas and electric data, industry standards and our previous experience, he document will provide a brief overview of the existing system, propose various low carbon solutions and our heating/cooling solution recommendations.
-
The Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme is a government initiative aimed at reducing carbon emissions from public sector buildings such as schools, hospitals and etc. We understand that securing funding is not as straight forward as it may seem, technical complexity of the proposed system plays a key factor.
Our GED engineers are able to guide and assist in PSDS applications, ensuring that your application is successful. We are not only industry experts but Salix PSDS application accessors too, placing us in a unique position to offer clear cut advice.
-
Design reviews are systematic and structured evaluations of a design, conducted at various stages of a project to ensure it meets the specified requirements, standards, and objectives. These reviews are critical pre installation phase and an excellent way to have 3rd party verification.
Our GED engineers can help identify critical issues, non-compliance withs pecification and or industry standards. We can also provide design improvement and recommendations at this stage.
-
Heat loss surveys is a non-intrusive assessment conducted on IES Virtual Environment to identify building heat gains and losses, considering the entire building envelope. This survey can provide a better understanding of the heating and/or cooling needs of the building, thus dictating the capacity of the heat pump system that would need to be designed.
-
Witness commissioning is a process where an independent third party, known as a "witness," observes and verifies the commissioning activities of a system. This process ensures that the installation and commissioning is conducted according to specification and industry standards.
This process can provide an extra layer of assurance that the designed system will be installed correctly, meets the required performance criteria and is also optimised if needed.
-
As technical advisors, we can provide specialised knowledge and guidance on project specific queries, helping you mitigate potential risk and ensure quality assurance. Our engineers can offer you design improvements, system recommendations and more.
-
We offer our industry knowledge and expertise in legal proceedings where a testimony is needed to provide accurate and reliable information to support or refute claims.
-
Monitoring your heat pump system is crucial to ensure that it is performing as designed. Not all systems function as specified and require monitoring and optimisation to ensure optimal performance. Small tweaks in a system could result in exponential system performance.

FAQs
-
Heat pumps can provide incredible efficiencies when properly designed, however, unlike boilers, they are very sensitive to the conditions in which they operate. If a heat pump is not installed or operated correctly it can severely lower the efficiency and damage the heat pump itself.
-
Absolutely not. Heat is heat no matter where it comes from, if you've got a poorly insulated building then you have to supply more heat, be it from a gas boiler or a heat pump. Heat pumps work more efficiently at lower flow temperatures and improving insulation or increasing radiator surface areas are simply ways of allowing flow temperature to be reduced. GED have plenty of examples of uninsulated, historic buildings with single glazed windows working perfectly with heat pumps.
-
That massively depends on what is being designed and the level of design required, from a week to 3 months or more. We work with our clients to ensure that design fits within the timescale of their project as well as supporting them through the installation process.
-
Determining the right heat pump system depends on factors like your property size, heating and cooling needs, local climate, and budget. A feasibility study is a great way to help pinpoint the most suitable system for your specific requirements.
