PROJECT OVERVIEW
Manor House is a Grade II listed domestic property in Burnett, Somerset. GED were engaged to help decarbonise the estate through installation of a low carbon heat source and supplementary PV array. A GSHP was specified for the main house, with a smaller ASHP for an external annex. A 30 kW ground mounted PV array was also proposed in the adjoining paddock, with scope to include battery storage to help maximise on site usage of the energy generated.
After consulting borehole records, GED coordinated investigatory works and found limestone at depths of 0.5m. It was therefore recommended that 6 no. 150m deep vertical boreholes be drilled to provide sufficient heat source for the GSHP system. An hourly thermal load profile was used in conjunction with PVsyst hourly yield profile to assess running costs and carbon savings.
PROJECT DELIVERABLES
GeoEnergy have acted as client’s engineer to provide assistance on the scheme, and have completed techno-economic analysis, planning and concept drawings as well as thermal load and PV modelling. A full mechanical specification including detailed Ground Loop Design has also been completed, with a tender pack issued to contractors. The project is to commence as soon as planning permission for the PV system is granted.
