Detailed design of a cascade ASHP system. RIBA 4
LOCATION
Solihull, UK
DESIGNED TECHNOLOGY
Cascade with
450kW ASHP feeding
615kW WSHP
PROJECT OVERVIEW
GeoEnergy were instructed by Centrica via RMS to provide a detailed design for a cascade ASHP system to integrate with existing heat emitter circuits at Solihull Hospital, an NHS hospital in the West Midlands. The heat pump system was to work alongside existing boilers and CHP, reducing their load and thus the CO2 emissions of the site. A cascade system was proposed to ensure that the required flow temperatures could be met with a final output of 615kW. The final system was built into a packaged plantroom fully constructed off site then split into 4 pieces for delivery.
PROJECT DELIVERABLES
GeoEnergy acted as the design engineers to develop the scheme, from scheme and integration development, planning drawings and site layout, to detailed plantroom models for construction, full equipment selection and mechanical specification, control development and Description of Operation.
