PROJECT OVERVIEW
Rapleys is a domestic property in Berkshire. The client is constructing a new building to house an indoor pool and spa, with all heating by renewable sources. The system combines a traditional ground source heat pump fed by boreholes with Photovoltaic-Thermal evacuated tubes mounted on a concealed roof. The system provides all water heating to the pool and a DHW cylinder, most water heating to the spa, and all heating to the space via an air handling unit.
The option to connect underfloor heating to the attached bathroom facilities is also included. Apart from providing an electrical supply, the PV-T tubes provide high temperature heat to the LTHW buffer, and during colder periods reheat the ground loop with lower quality heat.
PROJECT DELIVERABLES
GeoEnergy have acted as client’s engineer to provide assistance on developing the scheme and have completed design development and concept drawings as well as Ground Loop Design, and thermal load and Solar Thermal modelling. Working with other contractors, a full mechanical specification has been completed, with a tender pack issued to contractors. The project is to commence in Spring.
